Selling your home can seem daunting. There’s lots to think about, and even more to do! Below, I share a short list of “to do’s” to get your home on the market quickly and easily.
1. Contact me for a FREE home value consultation – I have helped sellers like yourself and can help you too in understanding your home’s current value. Pricing is an important component of an effective marketing strategy and can make the difference in how your home is received by buyers. In a short visit to your home, I can share my customized consultation and plan for getting your home on the market and sold quickly!
2. Start de-personalizing your home – family photos and keepsakes are important to have around your home, but not when you’re trying to sell it. They can detract from what we want buyers to see when they step into your house: the beautiful windows, the natural lighting, the updated kitchen, etc. Additionally, personal items can prevent buyers from imagining themselves living in the home.
3. Begin sorting items to keep, donate or throw away – as you prepare for your move, you’ll want to start organizing your belongings. Doing this helps in a couple of ways: you’ll be able to pare down your belongings and your home will be closer to being photograph ready!
4. Perform minor repairs – a fresh coat of paint, re-caulking around the tub, repairing a torn window screen, these are all items that while relatively inexpensive, can make a big impact in how buyer’s view your home. Doing some light landscaping and having your home deep cleaned prior to photographing and listing the home is also a good idea!
