What is Giving Tuesday?
It's a global movement encouraging generosity and support. Giving Tuesday falls on the Tuesday after Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
How you can help
During these uncertain times, nonprofit organizations could always do with donations of your time, money or both. A number of them can even accept donations via PayPal or purchases off their Amazon wishlist.
Check out some of these worthy organizations:
- Union Station Homeless Services– the largest social service agency providing outreach, bridge/permanent housing and assistance to homeless adults and families in the San Gabriel Valley
- Foothill Unity Center – a multiservice nonprofit organization aimed at helping families and individuals move out of poverty to greater economic stability. Some of their programs include housing services, food services, job development, healthcare, and crisis intervention.
- San Gabriel Valley Humane Society – provides low-cost vaccination clinics, veterinary services, animal adoption and animal control services for San Gabriel and Temple City.
- Pasadena Humane Society – based in the city of Pasadena and provides animal care, adoption and education services in the greater LA area.
- East Los Angeles Women's Center – founded in 1976. Provides services and support to ensure that all women, girls and their families live in a place of safety, health, and personal well-being, free from violence and abuse, with a focus on Latino communities.
- Journey House – provides help and support for foster youth and those transitioning out of the foster system.
